CAA is a 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax deductible.
Studio artists at CAA enjoy the camaraderie, sharing of art based experiences, and the incubation of ideas and methods. Classes offered by studio artists continue to be popular opportunities for instruction in sculpture, clay, traditional rug hooking, photography, and basic drawing.
Outreach to the many artists who live in the Central Iowa area continues, linking them to each other and also to art appreciators. CAA provides artists an outlet for validation, display, and sales of their art in all its forms.

Maika Takavesi is an artist and musician from the Fiji Islands. He met his wife
Heather (daughter of Newton residents Jack and Terri Ayres) almost thirteen years
ago in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal, where he currently resides with his wife and
daughter. Right now he is on an extended visit to Newton with his family. The oceans
of Fiji and landscapes of Nepal highly influence his artwork. While he’s been a
musician almost his entire adult life, his artistic abilities were not realized until
he was nearly forty years old when he took an art class in Nepal. Maika enjoys painting
in oils, acrylics, and watercolors. He can be contacted for questions about doing
commission work at 792-
