I have been a traditional rug hooker for 25 years. I received my McGowen teaching certificate
and taught at McGowen Teachers Workshop for 2 years. I have a studio in Newton at The Center
for Arts and Artists where I teach classes and display my rugs. I design my own patterns
and dye my own wool. I am a member of the Central Iowa Rug Artists Chapter of ATHA(Assoc. of Traditional Hooking Artists) My rugs have been nationally published and one was chosen for the cover of "Rug Hooking Magazine". My "Home Sweet Home" rug was chosen this year to be in "Celebrations" magazine which comes out once a year. My rugs will also be displayed this summer at Sauder Village in Ohio. Sauder Village hosts a rug hooking workshop every year that brings in rug hookers nationwide. I also enjoy entering my rugs at the Iowa State Fair in the "Fabric and Threads" dept. which are displayed on the upper floor of the Varied Industries building during the fair. I have received many ribbons including blue and "best of show". I look forward to that event every year.
